Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings is finally out and the action-packed flick made it clear that Simu Liu's character is here to stay. Amazingly, the new Marvel Cinematic Universe movie also teased the future with a seemingly direct connection to next year's first MCU film.
WARNING: Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings SPOILERS AHEAD! PROCEED WITH CAUTION!
In the film's climactic battle of Ta Lo, Shang-Chi and his companions gathered the villagers to face off against Wenwu and the Ten Rings. However, when the Dweller escapes from the seal, they all call a truce to defeat the villain and its minions. At one point, Shang-Chi is almost killed by the Dweller but Wenwu sacrifices himself to save his son.
With his final breath, the remorseful Wenwu gives Shang-Chi the ten rings, who then uses it and teams up with the Great Protector and his friends to kill the Dweller. This means that Shang-Chi now possesses the most powerful mystical objects in the MCU.
But what could possibly happen now that Shang-Chi has the ten rings? We immediately find out in the mid-credits scene. In the sequence, Wong brings Shang-Chi and Katy to the Sanctum Sanctorum. It is here that they meet Captain Marvel and Bruce Banner then realize that the ten rings are emitting a mysterious signal.
The cameo from Brie Larson and Mark Ruffalo is awesome in itself but the mid-credits scene also confirms that something is happening at the Sanctum Sanctorum. Interestingly, this could mean that Shang-Chi will play a significant role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Hopefully, we'll get to learn the truth in the next few weeks.
Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings is now screening in theaters in North America. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to premiere on March 25, 2022.
