When Marvel Studios announced in 2019 that they were bringing Shang-Chi to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the general fan response was a bit underwhelming, to say the least. The initial reaction to Shang-Chi's MCU arrival was pretty understandable given the fact that the character has always been considered a D-list hero in the comics and not a lot of casual fans are familiar with him.

Long before the film came out, Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings already gained a lot of critics who believe that the Phase Four MCU film will end up becoming a colossal failure. Turns out, that's not the case as the Simu Liu-led film is currently breaking theatrical records during the "pandemic era", opening with a whopping $90 million over the Labor Day weekend.

Simu has always been aware of how some people underestimated Shang-Chi and taking to his official social media pages, the Canadian star and the newest Marvel sensation took the opportunity to troll the naysayers who said the film would flop. I guess the Master of Kung Fu has the last laugh. Check it out here:

Marvel Studios continues to prove critics wrong and all I can say is that I'm genuinely thrilled that Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings is performing extremely well at the box office. The franchise is undoubtedly experiencing a changing of the guard and the future of the MCU looks very promising. I'm sure heroes like Shang-Chi will be sticking around for years to come and I'm totally here for it.

Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings is now screening in cinemas across North America.
