Shaman King is based on a 1998-2004 shonenmanga. As is the case with many popular works, the manga received an anime adaptation while still ongoing, meaning that the ending the creators intended for us never made it to our screens. Instead, the reboot is faithful to the manga.
Shaman King follows Yoh Asakura, who wants to become a shaman; an all-powerful being with the ability to summon spirits and manipulate the world according to their will. To achieve his dream, Yoh must come victorious out of a competition that only takes place once every 500 years.
Episode 26 was one that greatly pleased those fans who were able to watch it, if forum discussions and ratings are any indications. We learn a bit more about Hao, and see a bit more of Mikihasa, Yoh's father.
The stakes are higher than ever, as the terrifying possibility of Hao becoming the next Shaman King looms over our main characters. Mikihasa personally meets Tao Ren in the presence of his teammates making things uncomfortable for them, while some fans wonder why Mikihasa isn't the one to try and defeat Hao - hopefully, the newest episode will address this.
