Shadows House is getting a new season in summer 2022 and we're excited to delve into the house's dark secrets once more. If you're excited, keep reading. Bellow, you'll find our handy guide to Shadows House Season 2's release date, studio, where to watch, trailer and everything you need to know.

What is Shadows House About?

Shadows House is a fantasy anime based on a manga of the same name, written and illustrated by the duo Sho-Ma-To.

The first season follows Emilyko, a young girl, who serves in the mysterious Shadows House as a "living doll."

All the residents of the house are Shadows - human-shaped but completely dark and featureless - each of whom is attended by a human with the exact same shape.

Young Shadow children and their living dolls are kept in their own rooms, separate from the adults until Shadow master and living doll can prove or fake compatibility and coordination - or die trying.

As Emilyko and Kate form a close bond, they discover sinister truths about the house; by the end of Season 1, they've found that the Shadows start off as formless beings who gain a shape and a personality through interactions with the living dolls.

Eventually, Shadows are expected to completely merge with their human, taking over their body and consciousness and essentially killing them.

As Emilyko, Kate, and their friends try to escape this fate, they upset the house's precarious balance, putting themselves in danger of being eliminated by those higher up.

Judging from the trailer, Season 2 will be concerned with a mysterious robed figure that Emilyko encounters early on - a nobleman kind enough to help her, but not without selfish ulterior motives.

The robed nobleman's identity will likely be one of the second season's sustaining mysteries.

In the trailer, Kate also expressed her wish to become a Star-bearer - an exemplary Shadow who is responsible for keeping order in the children's building.

Of course, knowing Kate, it is probably not authority that she wants, but rather a free pass to keep investigating the House's mysteries, and, hopefully, free herself, Emilyko, and their friends.

Shadows House Season 2 Release Date

Shadows House Season 2 will premiere on the 9th of July 2022. Fans in Europe, Canada and the US will be able to access it from the 8th of July.

Where to Watch Shadows House Season 2

The first season of Shadows House was available on Funimation. Following the Crunchyroll and Funimation merger, Shadows House Season 1 was transferred to Crunchyroll as well.

Following the recent announcement of the Crunchyroll Summer 2022 lineup, we're pleased to confirm that Shadows House Season 2 will air on Crunchyroll - but don't worry if you're still using Funimation.

For now, Funimation will continue to stream many of the ongoing series it distributed in previous seasons, and Shadows House Season 2 is one of them!

What Studio is Producing Shadows House Season 2?

As was the case with the first season, Shadows House Season 2 is being produced by CloverWorks - also home to Spy x Family.

Some fans have expressed concerns about the second season of the fantasy anime, particularly because CloverWorks handled The Promised Neverland Season 2 really poorly.

Fans are mainly concerned because the last few Shadows House Season 1 episodes disregarded the manga events and created a different ending.

There is, however, a marked difference: the Shadows House team didn't know whether a Season 2 would even be possible at the time, so they worked with So-Ma-To to create a natural stopping point that wouldn't seem entirely awkward but would leave the door open for more of the manga to be adapted in the future.

While it might be a little odd to add the manga elements that were missing in Season 1, we hope that CloverWorks will do the manga justice this time.
