The first trailer for Netflix's Shadow and Bone series is finally here and it's a breathtaking glimpse into a world dealing with despair. However, the teaser promises that there will be a stunning battle between darkness and light.
The trailer opens with an introduction to the Shadow Fold, "a scar on the map that tore our country in two." As dangerous as the dark plane is, Alina Starkov is ready to take on it. She promises her friend Malyen Oretsev that she'll make it but is she truly prepared for what's in store in the Fold?
It doesn't take long before the soldiers are attacked by monstrous beings and at one point, Mal is almost killed by a monster. However, a powerful light comes to Mal's rescue. The question is, how did this miracle happen?
It's something that General Kirigan wants to know and he takes Alina in for questioning. As Alina's secret is revealed, she is pushed into a world that is desperately in need of a miracle. But can she truly trust those who are trying to help her?
Shadow and Bone is the series adaptation of Leigh Bardugo's novel of the same name, which is the first book of her Grisha trilogy. The upcoming show will also adapt the author's Six of Crows novels.
Shadow and Bone will star Jessie Mei Li as Alina Starkov, Ben Barnes as General Kirigan, Archie Renaux as Malyen Oretsev, Freddy Carter as Kaz Brekker, Amita Suman as Inej Ghafa, and Kit Young as Jesper Fahey. The series premieres on Netflix on April 23.
