Samuel L. Jackson has been a major character in Marvel Cinematic Studios throughout the years. First played the role of Nick Fury in 2008's Iron Man, after more than a decade, Jackson impressively still has two more appearances slated for this year, reprising his role as the badass S.H.I.E.L.D spy in the upcoming The Marvels and Disney+’s Secret Invasion.

While the critically-acclaimed actor shows no intention of retiring from the mega-franchise, fans are still excited to see the man who originally formed the Avengers initiative. Now that he is set to return, Jackson has teased what would unfold with his character in Disney+'s upcoming series, Secret Invasion.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel vet Samuel L. Jackson teased what's about to develop with his character, Nick Fury.

Speaking about Secret Invasion, Jackson hinted that there will be both ‘evolution’ and ‘devolution’ as he discovers more about Nick Fury.

"There are things that even I really didn’t know about Nick Fury that I just found out, that the minds behind what happened during the Blip are fantastic," Jackson said. "That’s part of what we’re uncovering when we do this series now. The place that Nick Fury is in, the evolution of his story, or the devolution of his story, as maybe we wind it down or maybe we crank it up. It’s kind of hard to tell. But, giving me an opportunity to explore something other than the badass-ery of who Nick Fury is. I’ve had a good time doing that, and I’m looking forward to people sharing that aspect of who he is when this series does happen."

Being a side character throughout the years in the Infinity Saga, it's good to know that the MCU is finally placing the spotlight on Nick Fury. If ever we're lucky, we might finally witness Fury's backstory before he became the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Aside from Nick Fury's return in Secret Invasion, the Disney+ series will also be the debut of Game of Thrones actress, Emilia Clarke in the MCU, starring in a mysterious role.

Secret Invasion reportedly wrapped filming last April and is pushing a February 17, 2023 release date.
