One of the upcoming MCU shows that are currently in the works right now is Secret Invasion which will star Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn's Talos as they navigate the Skrulls who have infiltrated all aspects of life on Earth. Filming for the series is currently underway as evidenced by numerous set photos that have been surfacing online recently. Now, thanks to them, we finally have our first look at the series' villain.
A new series of set photos from the filming of Secret Invasion is currently surfacing online including our very first look at Kingsley Ben-Adir, who is set to play the main villain of the series. While the image didn't give us anything about his mysterious role, at least we get to see what he looks like. We can pretty much assume for now that he will be playing a human character unless he is actually a Skrull who shapeshifted to a human form during the scene that they were shooting.
There are also new set photos and videos featuring Jackson, Cobie Smulders, and Emilia Clarke where it looks like they were filming a scene set in a street.
While these set photos and videos didn't give us any major information about the series except that some scenes are set in Russia, they did give us the tangibilization that most fans have been wanting to see and hear. It also gives us clues for what the series might be about and we could start speculating about the mysterious roles that Ben-Adir and Clarke will be playing.
There's a lot of anticipation right now to the series as it is based on the popular storyline from the comics in which it revealed that a lot of known Marvel characters are actually Skrulls. It is unknown yet if the MCU series will be doing the exact same storyline or it will be a loose adaptation although, for sure, the events will have huge ramifications to the future of the franchise.
Secret Invasion is set to premiere this year on Disney+.
