Sebastian Stan Offers Exciting Update on Marvel’s Thunderbolts

Sebastian Stan continues to be a part of the MCU roster this coming Marvel Phase Five, as the Winter Soldier actor is bound to 2 upcoming Marvel films: Captain America: New World Order and Thunderbolts, both of which are set to be released in 2024. Now, while little is known about Marvel’s Thunderbolts, Stan offers an exciting update on his part for the film!

“As always, it’s always a pleasure going back. Now it’s an exciting time, because this character can kind of go every which way.” Stan recently told Collider, “We sort of opened up the door for him in a lot of ways, but I haven’t read the script… I still have not been sent it. It’s pretty much on par as how it usually goes. I’m really excited about the cast. There’s a lot of great people in there that I’m looking forward to working with.”

At face value, Thunderbolts is comprised of a band of unlikely villains having to work together, and the members include Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Valentina “Val” Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Harrison Ford), with Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) leading the group.

Contrary to previous reports claiming Ghost is gone from the ensemble, Hannah John-Kamen is still going to be a part of the group!

While we have yet to receive more details about Thunderbolts, it is worth noting the importance of Bucky Barnes. He is considered the most heroic in the lineup, the only hero to have ever worked alongside Avengers, which already makes him stand out from the group, and of course, the ones MCU fans know the most above everybody else, who are relatively new in the MCU.

How Bucky approaches these particular people can possibly become the driving force of what would make the group work together. Although Belova is technically being teased to lead the Thunderbolts, this could easily sneak in between comedic disarrays amongst the characters. For now, though, we’ll have to wait and see more updates in the future.

Marvel’s Thunderbolts is currently slated for release on July 26, 2024.
