Horror icon Wes Craven helmed all four Scream films, a project which began giving moviegoers all the creeps and then some back in 1996. Following the release of Scream 4 in 2011, rumors began swirling that a fifth sequel was in the franchise's future. However, plans were halted after Craven's death in 2015.

Fans have been waiting for this project for quite a while now and although it's experienced multiple setbacks, the interest for the Scream franchise is still there. With four successful installments under its belt, the series continues to prove how hot of a commodity in the horror genre it still is after over two decades. Now, the question is, are you ready for the return of Ghostface? You better be.

Originally slated for a 2021 release, Scream 5 is now eyeing a 2022 premiere.
