Freaky Friday Meets Friday the 13th in Trailer for Dark Comedy ‘Freaky’

Director Christopher Landon had given Groundhog Day a sadistic twist with Happy Death Day, and now it looks like he's going to be poking dark fun at the body-swapping movie trope with Freaky. Check out the new trailer.

Here's the short description:

After swapping bodies with a deranged serial killer, a young girl in high school discovers she has less than 24 hours before the change becomes permanent.

As I said, the movie is horror-comedy poking fun at the body-swapping genre that Freaky Friday made popular. I wonder if the movie just came out of the idea of putting two movie titles together and getting Freaky Friday the 13th. Either way, I love the creative approach, and though it's supposed to be horror, the film is also really leaning into the comedy element.

Though Kathryn Newton may be playing the original body of protagonist Millie, it looks like she is going to be playing most of this film as the serial killer. The main star looks to be Vince Vaughn who is going to be playing the part of a young girl trapped in a murderer's body. I have to say, it's kind of funny to see Vaughn come back to the horror genre. Though he's best known for his comedic roles, he did play Norman Bates in the 1998 remake of Psycho.

Catch Freaky when it comes out on Friday the 13th of November.
