Scarlett Johansson Unveils New Look at Black Widow Film

Despite experiencing several frustrating delays over the last year, Marvel Studios' Black Widow is finally hitting cinemas next month and it's safe to say that nothing can stop Natasha Romanoff's much-awaited big-screen return. Originally slated for release in April of last year, the film is set following the events of Captain America: Civil War and will follow Romanoff's humble beginnings as an assassin before becoming one of the founding members of the Avengers.

Ahead of Black Widow's July 9th release, Marvel Studios released a brand new look at the upcoming film coinciding with the Avengers Campus announcements. Scarlett Johansson herself presented the minute-long "special look" preview which sets up the story of Romanoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and her relationship with her family, most especially her younger sister Yelena Belova who was also trained under the Red Room program. Check it out here:

While Johansson's true MCU fate is still shrouded by mystery, it's safe to assume at this point that Black Widow will mark her official farewell to the franchise she's had the pleasure of becoming a part of for over a decade. There's no doubt that the film will serve as a changing of the guard in the MCU as it also sets up Natasha's successor in Yelena and although it's still early to say what the future holds for the character, I'm 100% positive that she'll become a main fixture in the franchise for years to come.

Black Widow arrives in theaters and on Disney+'s Premier Access this July 9, 2021.
