The entire Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom was rocked last year when Scarlett Johansson filed a lawsuit against Disney over Black Widow's release scheme which saw the film be released simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+. It turns out that Johansson wasn't aware of the said plan and according to her camp, the hybrid release hurt the flick's box office chances and ultimately led to Johansson missing a massive payday

Thankfully, both parties were able to agree to a settlement that reportedly granted the 37-year-old star a whopping $40 million. On top of that, the door of opportunity was once again opened for the actress to collaborate with the company anytime she wishes and according to a new rumor, ScarJo could very well be on her way back to the MCU but it's not in the capacity most fans are hoping for.

According to Twitter page Marvel Updates, Johansson is making her triumphant comeback to the MCU via the upcoming Thunderbolts film. The account claims that the Natasha Romanoff actress will serve as the project's executive producer.

The validity of the rumor remains questionable but considering the House of Mouse and Johansson have already settled their differences, her return to the billion-dollar franchise was almost a guarantee.

Of course, we all know what happened to Natasha in Avengers: Endgame, and while it may have erased any possibility of the character returning to Earth-616, the whole multiverse concept which has been making waves since the start of Phase Four just made things less complicated.

Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts is slated for release on July 26, 2024.
