Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) may have had feelings for Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) at one point in the Avengers' story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, after their little romance in Avengers: Age of Ultron, things between the two began to fizzle.
Speaking in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter to talk about her career and her stand on topics like the controversies surrounding filmmaker Woody Allen, Johansson was asked about the unresolved relationship that Natasha and Bruce had. While some fans feel like the relationship could have been written off better, the Marvel star says that it was only right that the romance between Black Widow and the Hulk had fizzled out as Marvel went along with Phase 3 of the MCU.
"I think that they made a choice that was for the greater good," the actress told the entertainment news outlet, "I think everybody must have had that where you meet someone but it's just not the right time. It just wasn't really meant to be, but I would love to do the other storyline where they have some sort of Bogart and Bacall romance."
Unfortunately, we don't see any room for Marvel to continue exploring the romance between the two, especially after Natasha's sacrifice on the planet of Voromir in Avengers: Endgame. Sure, Marvel is preparing a Black Widow standalone movie for Johansson, but the movie is a prequel film. It's highly unlikely that we'll see Hulk there.
Avengers: Endgame is currently available on Digital HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
