SAW Reboot: Samuel L. Jackson to Play Chris Rock’s Father

In a weird move, comedian Chris Rock is transitioning over to horror by helping reboot the grisly SAW franchise. What's interesting is, he's found a co-star in the film in the form of SHIELD director Nick Fury.

As per Entertainment Weekly, Samuel L. Jackson has been cast in the SAW reboot, and he's going to be playing the father of Rock's character. Rock himself will be playing a police detective investigating a series of violent crimes. The movie will also include stars Max Minghella, William Schenk, and Marisol Nichols.

Lionsgate chairman Joe Drake had this to say about Jackson coming onboard:

"We think Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Rock along with Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols make this film completely special in the SAW canon and we can't wait to unleash this unexpected and sinister new story on fans of this franchise… This is the next level of SAW on full tilt."

With the first saw being all about twists, I have a feeling that Rock's father is going to play a very significant role in the movie; why else hire someone like Jackson to play him? You don't just get Jackson to play someone's father who would just be asking about the case they're working on in the background. You want Mr. Glass to be part of the story, and I have a feeling he's going to be this new generation's equivalent of Jigsaw.

Then again, that's just my guess.

In the meantime, you can catch Jackson as Nick Fury in Spider-Man: Far From Home in theaters now. Catch this SAW reboot when it comes out Oct. 23, 2020.
