Shinichiro Watanabe may be best known for Cowboy Bebop, but he also has lots of other iconic shows. This year is the 20th anniversary of his memorable samurai anime, and to celebrate, the Samurai Champloo soundtrack is finally available on Spotify and other streaming platforms.

The soundtrack's release has been a long time coming for fans, especially considering that the anime’s music is one of its most memorable parts.

With the soundtrack’s release, some fans are hoping that the anniversary will bring even more Samurai Champloo goodness, possibly in the form of events or merch.

It’s fair to say that Shinichiro Watanabe is one of the most well-known directors in anime. After all, Watanabe’s Cowboy Bebop continues to be among the most beloved shows of the 90s.

Watanabe is far from a one-hit wonder though, as he has helmed lots of notable shows over the decades. These include titles like Terror in Resonance, Space Dandy, and Kids on the Slope.

When it comes to popularity and critical acclaim, Watanabe’s Samurai Champloo is arguably second only to Cowboy Bebop.

That’s because the show’s mash-up of Edo-period Japan and hip-hop gives it a unique and timeless quality.

The years have gone by fast as Samurai Champloo is now 20 years old, with the anime premiering in Japan way back in January 2004.

Even though the series has not gotten a sequel, it continues to live on as one of the most iconic shows of the 2000s.

To mark the series’ 20th anniversary, the official Samurai Champloo soundtrack albums have finally been released on streaming platforms such as Spotify. The best part is that the albums are available worldwide.

This is great news for fans, especially considering that many had to rely on unofficial uploads or covers to listen to the songs in the last couple of years.

On Spotify and other streaming platforms, the soundtrack albums were released alongside a playlist that compiles the various iconic songs from the show.

The playlist also includes the show’s memorable opening and ending themes.

Aside from Spotify, the soundtrack albums can now be streamed on popular platforms such as Apple Music.

For now, there’s no word on upcoming events to celebrate the anime’s anniversary, though director Watanabe is currently working on a new anime series titled Lazarus, which is being produced by MAPPA.
