Samuel L. Jackson Hypes up Captain Marvel for Avengers 4

The ending of Avengers: Infinity War was a set-up to the introduction of Captain Marvel next March, and Samuel L. Jackson hypes up Carol Danvers' significance to Avengers 4.

When asked by Vulture what Jackson's thoughts on the fourth Avengers film was, Jackson said:

"Who's really dead, and who's really in the flaky wind of Marvel dust, I don't know, but I do know there's a solution that they didn't even have to tell me, just because I know who Captain Marvel is and what all that means."

If you didn't know already, Captain Marvel is a period piece set in the 90s, and will also feature an appearance from a young Nick Fury, possibly still a grunt agent of SHIELD. Considering that Fury had known Danvers since the 90s, the MCU has some explaining to do as to why Fury didn't call her when Loki started his invasion back in 2012.

My personal guess is that Fury only got contact with Danvers sometime after the life-changing events, and by the time people started disappearing, she as the only one he could call. Then again, I would be pleased if Marvel somehow subverted everyone's expectations and gave us a totally unexpected explanation.

Catch Captain Marvel in theaters March 8, 2019.
