Ryan Reynolds Credits Free Guy Cameos for Film's Box Office Success

It certainly pays to have a lot of popular friends. Ryan Reynolds knows that all too well as he thanks his friends who agreed to do the cameos in Free Guy and claims it's the reason for the film's box office success.

Reynolds didn't exactly hide the fact that there will be major A-listers in Free Guy. The Deadpool star had previously teased that fans should watch out for big cameos long before the movie hit theaters.

Free Guy did not disappoint as people were blown away by random cameos from Channing Tatum, Chris Evans, Dwayne Johnson, John Krasinski, and Reynolds' BFF Hugh Jackman. The film is now a certified hit and Reynolds took to his Twitter account to declare that his friends made it all possible.

"This movie is about friendship. And friendship is at its simplest, just showing up. While I don't have photos of everyone, here's to all the incredible pals who showed up for this film," Reynolds wrote.

Interestingly, one of these friends only showed up for a few minutes on the set to film their cameo. Director Shawn Levy previously revealed that Evans' cameo happened because they happened to be shooting in the same city and Reynolds simply called the Avengers: Endgame star and asked him to show up. Evans agreed on the condition that he could shoot his scene in ten minutes.

Although the cameos were awesome as they were, there is little doubt that the action and humor of Free Guy are the true keys to success. The film has earned $28.4 million on its opening weekend and is expected to do better this week.

Free Guy is currently screening in theaters nationwide.
