Free Guy is undoubtedly a huge hit, taking the world by storm on its opening weekend. Now it looks like we can look forward to more of Guy in the future. Ryan Reynolds has just confirmed that Disney wants to work on a sequel.
There's a good reason why people are excited about Free Guy. In addition to Reynolds and Jodie Comer getting into action, the film is filled with awesome cameos from big stars like Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson, and Hugh Jackman. So it's no surprise that the movie had topped the weekend box office.
All that success hasn't gone unnoticed. Reynolds has just revealed that Disney had reached out to him and declared that they want him to work on Free Guy 2.
"Aaaannnnd after 3 years messaging #FreeGuy as an original IP movie, Disney confirmed today they officially want a sequel. Woo hoo!!" Reynolds wrote before adding the hashtag #irony.
This is great news for Reynolds and for fans who loved every minute of Free Guy. Interestingly, it's also ironic considering that the film poked fun at Hollywood's love for making sequels. Still, this should be fodder for even more hilarious moments in Free Guy 2.
For now, there are not a lot of details about the sequel. After all, Disney has only expressed interest in working on Free Guy 2 and it should still be in early development. However, we might be getting an update before the end of the year.
Free Guy is currently screening in theaters nationwide.
