Russo Brothers 'Fired' Mark Ruffalo For Revealing Avengers 4 Title

It looks like Mark Ruffalo's spoiling days are over. The Thor: Ragnarok star has just been "fired" by Joe and Anthony Russo for confirming the Avengers 4 title on national TV.

Ruffalo had previously teased about spoilers that would be aired on Friday night's episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The Avengers: Infinity War actor had recorded the episode earlier that day and tweeted out a plea to the host begging for the "spoiler slip" to be cut. When the episode finally aired, the Russo brothers replied to Ruffalo's tweet with a short message.

So what exactly happened in the episode? Fallon had asked Ruffalo about the Avengers 4 title. The actor's answer was bleeped but eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out that it looked like he said the word "Annihilation." Ruffalo even pointed out that "it's out there" so he wasn't really spoiling anything. Annihilation is currently the most popular theory about the sequel's title.

So did Ruffalo actually confirm the Avengers 4 title? Although most fans believe this is exactly what happened, it's still possible that it was all an act. After all, Ruffalo followed up the reveal with an exaggerated reenactment of what happens in the sequel, making Fallon say, "That's enough spoilers! We have to see the movie! You said too much!"

Nevertheless, some still think that Avengers 4 will be titled Annihilation. It makes sense considering that the two other Avengers sequels were named after comic book titles. In addition to that, the Russos themselves seem to have pointed it out in their infamous "Look hard" picture. However, we are still waiting for Marvel to actually confirm the title in an official manner.

Avengers 4 is scheduled for release on May 3, 2019.
