Promotion for the new Rurouni Kenshin anime keeps on coming, as the series’ fifth trailer has just been released. Instead of just another trailer though, the Rurouni Kenshin reboot anime also revealed its half-year release schedule, along with its opening theme.

Details about the anime were revealed on the show’s official website. There, it was confirmed that the show will run for two cours, meaning we now have an idea of the show’s official episode count.

Meanwhile, the new trailer also features a preview of its opening theme that’s made by two well-known Japanese artists.

Given that Rurouni Kenshin is one of the most iconic anime and manga of the 90s, it’s no surprise to see it being hyped up a lot since its reveal last year. Though now, it’s finally revealed that it will run throughout the rest of 2023.

Specifically, the reboot anime will have a consecutive two-cour run, meaning it will air from Summer 2023 to Fall 2023.

Because of the length of the source material, it’s no surprise that it will run for longer than a season, though it’s a pleasant surprise to see it run without a one-season break like what Spy x Family or Bleach: TYBW did.

Given the two-cour run, it’s expected that the anime will feature a total episode count ranging from 24-26. After all, most two-cour anime have episode counts in this range.

Even though it’s a bit longer than other shows, the reboot will likely not cover the manga’s entire story, especially considering that the manga has over 200 chapters.

Along with the anime’s length, the opening song for the series has also been previewed in the new trailer.

The opening song is called Hiten, and it is made by Japanese artists Ayase and R-Shitei.

Ayase is likely a familiar artist among many anime fans as he is one-half of YOASOBI, the music duo behind the opening songs for Oshi no Ko, Gundam: Witch from Mercury Season 1, and Beastars Season 2.

Meanwhile, R-Shitei is another popular artist who is best known as one-half of Creepy Nuts, the hip-hop duo of Call of the Night fame.

The new Rurouni Kenshin anime will be released on July 7, 2023.

Though before its release, premiere screenings will happen in various countries, including the US, France, Singapore, Japan, and more.
