Runtime For Blade Runner 2049 Revealed, and It's Longer Than The Original

The official runtime for Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049 has been revealed: 2 hours and 32 minutes, Variety reports. That's 30 minutes more than Ridley Scott's original film, which only clocked under 2 hours. Not that the runtime doesn't include the 11-minute credits in the end. It looks like they're trying to expand the Cyberpunk franchise with the sequel's extended runtime and short films that serve as prequels to the upcoming film, one of which was just released earlier this week. I hope 2049 will be so successful that they'd consider to make more Blade Runner films in the near future.

Synopsis:

Officer K (Ryan Gosling), a new blade runner for the Los Angeles Police Department, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. His discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former blade runner who's been missing for 30 years.

Blade Runner 2049 also stars Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, Mackenzie Davis, Sylvia Hoeks and Barkhad Abdi. It's set ot release in theaters on October 6.
