Resident Evil 8 in Development, Going Back to Third-Person Camera?

Now that the Resident Evil 2 remake has been getting all of the praise, fans are anticipated for a possible remake of Resident Evil 3. However, some fans are forgetting the fact that Resident Evil 7 came out a few years ago and a Resident Evil 8 could be on the horizon. Turns out that there are some rumors about an eighth official installment of the series, and it could ditch the first-person camera.

According to Twisted Voxel, the eighth-numbered entry is in the works but is still very early in development. Apparently, the game will be taking place in an abandoned island that focuses on the creation of Eveline from Resident Evil 7, which could imply that Chris Redfield will take the lead again.

These are rumors so fans should take this with a grain of salt but it's worth noting that the source who broke the news, Evil VR, brought up the limited Resident Evil 2 demo that did become true. Then again, sources like these can get lucky but we'll have to wait and see if anything comes up. That's internet culture for you.

What will surprise fans is that there is some talk of bringing back the third-person camera. It did wonders for the Resident Evil 2 remake, though the first-person camera for Resident Evil 7 did make the series feel fresh again. This will get a mixed reception, that's for sure.

Since it's still early in development, we have no idea when Resident Evil 8 will be coming out. If the releases of Resident Evil 7 and the remake of Resident Evil 2 are anything to go by, the first trailer will reveal the release date.
