Capcom Willing to Remake Resident Evil 3 if Fans Demand It

Now that the remake of Resident Evil 2 has (figuratively) blown everyone's minds, fans have been asking one thing; when is the Resident Evil 3 remake coming? This seems like the next step to take for Capcom unless they're planning to release Resident Evil 8, which no one will be against. Still, it seems like fans would love to play a remake of the third game in the series and Capcom has stated that they want to make it….

...assuming fans want it of course.

Yeah, Capcom is being particularly cheeky about this remake since Resident Evil 2 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi told Japanese website GameWatch (via GearNuke) that they need fan demand if they want a Resident Evil 3 remake. It seems like there are already plans to make this, with Capcom wanting some hype behind it first before they make the game.

Should a remake for the third game come out, this would be the final mainline game that needs it. Capcom already ported the Gamecube remakes of Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0 on current consoles. Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 were also ported to modern consoles, the latter two being seventh generation console games so they don't need much remastering.

Resident Evil 2 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. There will soon be free DLC for the game, including a new mode and 32-bit costumes that make Leon and Claire look like how they did back in the original PlayStation.
