Rumor: Mission Impossible's Chris McQuarrie Eyed to Direct Bond 25

MGM had just recently dropped the bomb that Bond 25 had lost its director over creative differences, and now the studio is currently scrambling for a replacement to Danny Boyle. Rumor has it that the eyes are currently on Mission Impossible: Fallout director Chris McQuarrie.

This comes from Variety's Justin Kroll:

Take this with a grain of salt but a name already being floated as a replacement is McQuarrie. This is just a rumor and has no clout behind it but is an obvious choice following FALLOUT. Not sure if he would be up for it since he has said he wants to do original material

As reported, we should take this info with a grain of salt, but after the success of MI6, McQuarrie has proven that he has the chops to direct something as action heavy as James Bond.

On the other hand, there were already a handful of directors who were being considered before Boyle went onboard. Personally, I would like to see what a director like Christopher Nolan can bring to the franchise. This is, after all, Daniel Craig's last Bond film. Why shouldn't he go out with a bang?

For now, Bond 25 is slated for a release one Nov. 8, 2019, but after the director shake-up, I wouldn't be surprised if they moved the release to 2020.
