Thor’s Idris Elba Is Reportedly The Leading Candidate For The Next James Bond

Bond 25 is going to be the last we see of Daniel Craig's time as Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's James Bond, and it looks like the studio has started looking for the next face of double-oh-seven.

Now, it looks like Marvel fans might get to see their favorite Asgardian Gatekeeper becoming the new James Bond.

According to The Equalizer director Antonine Fuqua (via The Independent) Bond franchise producer, Barbara Broccoli is currently looking for a black Bond for the Metro-Goldwyn Mayer, saying that the producer told him that it's time that a person of color stepped into the iconic role.

After being filled with white actors like Sean Connery, George Lazenby, David Niven, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, and most recently Daniel Craig, Broccoli is fairly certain that the move to diversify the Bond role "will happen eventually."

To Fuqua, one of the top contenders would be Luther and Thor's Idris Elba, the Golden Globe Award-winning actor who is widely considered to be one of the most charismatic black men of today.

"Idris could do it if he was in shape. You need a guy with a physically strong presence. Idris has that," the director said while speaking at a presentation of Soundfi, a new game-changing 3D sound app.

This new report about Elba being a top candidate for the role comes as no surprise. The delightfully charming English actor has been frequently named as a candidate for the role, though the actor once told fans in an episode of Good Morning America that he was just "too old" for the role.

What do you think? Do you think Idris Elba would make a great Bond? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
