Rumor: Lady Gaga Turned Down a Role in Birds of Prey

The DCEU may have stumbled at the box office, but it did make a splash with Wonder Woman. Now the studio is trying to put more focus on female-lead superhero films, and rumor has it that Lady Gaga was approached for a role in the upcoming Birds of Prey.

According to @DanielRPK (via Batman-News):

Seeing that Gaga is also a very visual artist, I think I would have preferred if she played some kind of grandiose villain. I would guess Poison Ivy was a good choice, but I think I would prefer a natural red head in the role. Plus, I think Mad Men's Christina Hendricks would be the right pick over anyone else.

Then again, all of these are just rumors so maybe Gaga wasn't even approached for a role at all.

For now, the Birds of Prey is assembling a team which consists of Black Canary, Huntress, Det. Renee Montoya, Cassandra Cain, and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie). It's also worth noting that a lot of buzz has been going around Canary as it's been said that they are looking for someone biracial to play her—much to the outrage of several fans.

Hopefully, director Cathy Yan knows what she's doing with this film. This movie is picking up with some real speed, and I have my fingers crossed that we get a look at the main ensemble before the year ends.

No release date has been set for Birds of Prey, but it's possible that the movie will come out in 2020.
