Rumor: Benedict Cumberbatch Getting a Huge Pay Raise for Doctor Strange 2

Throughout its ten years, the MCU was considered to have Robert Downey Jr. as the face of the franchise, but with him exiting the role of Iron Man after Avengers 4, everyone is wondering who will replace him as mascot. A lot of people have been guessing Doctor Strange's Benedict Cumberbatch, and rumor has it he's getting a huge raise for working on the sequel.

According to the Mirror, Cumberbatch is set to earn between £5 million (roughly $6.4M) to £7.5 million ($9.6M) for his work on the sequel. This is substantially higher than Cumberbatch has already earned from working with Marvel. After an origin film and several smaller appearances, Cumberbatch has earned £4.2 million in total.

For now, the only Phase 4 movie that's been announced was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but after the James Gunn debacle, Marvel Studios could be setting their priority on another film—why not the Doctor Strange sequel?

We haven't had any solid updates on the movie, but rumor has it that DS 2 will explore the Nightmare Realm this time around. After the cosmic horrors of the first film, I would love to see how much more the MCU can expand the world of Marvel Mystic.

No release date has been set for Doctor Strange 2.
