Rumor: Batman Solo Movie is in the Same Universe as Todd Phillips' Joker Film

We don't know that much about Matt Reeves' solo Batman movie, but we have been getting steady updates on the Joker origin movie directed by Todd Phillips. Rumor has it that Reeves solo Batman film actually takes place in the same universe as Phillips' Joker movie.

This was brought up in The Superhero News Show by Mark Hughes (via Heroic Hollywood). He didn't give any more details about the rumor, but hopefully we get confirmation come SDCC 2018 next month.

So far, we only know very little about this Batman movie. We know that the story is already in place, but we have no idea about the status of the script. Ben Affleck's involvement is also considered a bit iffy, and Reeves is said to be looking at Jake Gyllenhaal to play a younger version of the Caped Crusader.

With the Joker movie set outside of the DCEU, I don't think it's a good idea to make a Batman trilogy set outside of the main timeline. I'm just thinking that if they decide to expand on this Joker film, it would seem to some that the DCEU Batman has been officially dropped.

Though I think it would make sense that an alternate timeline Batman would exist in Joker, I would prefer if Reeves' was an entirely different version—preferably Batfleck.

No release date has been set for The Batman or Joker.
