Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker Movie Gets More Crew Members And Working Title

It looks like Todd Phillip's Joker movie is finally gearing up for its production this September.

According to ThatHashtagShow.com, Warner Brother's Joker movie outside the DCEU is set to begin production in New York this September. Not only does the site claim that the film is rolling with the working title Romeo but that Phillip's has already brought in cinematographer Lawrence Sher from his War Dogs and The Hangover trilogy to work with him on the Joker.

The director has also managed to nab Noah and Selma production designer Mark Friedberg along with Academy Award-winning costume designer from the Phantom Thread, Mark Bridges. Together with his casting director Shayna Markowitz, Phillips will begin searching for actors and actresses to fill out the Joker movie's cast during the next few months.

Phillips' Joker movie is also set to take place in some sort of Elseworld universe outside the DCEU, the existing superhero franchise created by Warner Brothers and DC. This gives the director complete freedom over the film, allowing him to work outside the restraints of the franchise. Though there hasn't been a confirmation just yet, rumor has it the film could be released under a banner called DC Dark or DC Black – a non DCEU label that might have more serious adult tones compared to Justice League.

The Joker movie doesn't have a release date yet but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
