It looks like Ruby Rose is having trouble dealing with trolls on social media. The star of The Meg has just deleted her Twitter account after surprising backlash over her casting in the Batwoman TV series.
Rose was recently cast as DC comic book heroine Kate Kane for The CW's planned Batwoman series. The actress was understandably delighted with the news as she revealed that she had always dreamed of taking on the role. However, things changed when people started harassing Rose about the casting. According to Just Jared, the Pitch Perfect 3 star posted a scathing message to her haters before deleting her Twitter account.
"Where on earth did ‘Ruby is not a lesbian therefore she can't be batwoman' come from – has to be the funniest most ridiculous thing I've ever read. I came out at 12? And have for the past 5 years had to deal with ‘she's too gay' how do y'all flip it like that? I didn't change," Rose wrote in the now-deleted tweet.
Kate Kane is one of the first openly lesbian comic book characters. Similarly, Rose has been open about her own sexuality since her modeling years.
Rose still maintains her other social media platforms. She has continued posting new images on your Instagram account. However, the comments have been disabled.
The xXx: Return of Xander Cage star is expected to debut as Batwoman in a major CW Arrowverse crossover event. Rose will then lead her own TV series which could air sometime in 2019.
