Rosa Salazar Isn't Surprised Alita: Battle Angel 2 Has Not Yet Been Greenlighted

There is little doubt that fans are waiting for a sequel to the highly successful Alita: Battle Angel. Unfortunately, there has been no word from Disney now that the studio has acquired 20th Century Fox. Interestingly, Rosa Salazar isn't surprised that Alita: Battle Angel 2 has yet to be greenlighted.

Salazar recently spoke to Slashfilm about a possible sequel and the Undone actress was quick to point out that the delay has a lot to do with Disney's acquisition of Fox.

"Yeah, I mean, they had a crazy merger. People are gaining jobs, people are losing jobs. The whole Disney/Fox acquisition is so involved, this isn't the right time for me to call Alan Horn and be like, ‘Hey bro, I know you got a lotta stuff going on, but like what about Alita 2?'" she said.

Sure, we all understand that things like these take time. Nevertheless, it would be great to get an update on a possible sequel as soon as possible. In the meantime, fans can rest assured that Salazar is ready to reprise her role as the cyborg.

"I would play Alita ‘til my last breath," she said. "I would, and thanks to the performance capture technology, I probably could."

We're certainly hoping that she could do just that. The first film concluded with Alita challenging Nova after she won the Motorball tournament. Needless to say, it's a fight that could last at least two more movies and we're sure Salazar is ready to take on more challenges in the future.

Alita: Battle Angel is currently available on digital, Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, and DVD.
