Rogue One Writer Gary Whitta Rants on Cancelled Star Wars Game

News had just come out that EA had canceled an upcoming open-world Star Wars game, much to every fans' dismay. As it turns out, Rogue One writer Gary Whitta was also looking forward to the game, and he reacts to finding out about the game's cancellation.

Talking to Kinda Funny Games, Whitta said, "It has been catastrophically mismanaged. If I were Disney, I'd be f****ng furious. I saw a bunch of that game, and it looked terrific. It would have been Star Wars Uncharted."

Ever since the news came out of the canceled game, a lot of fans have decided to take a hard look at how EA has been managing the Star Wars license. Ever since the company acquired the rights to Star Wars back in 2013, it has only pumped out two Battlefront games. Compare that to Lucasarts who was able to pump out a total of 18 games (including the original Star Wars Battlefronts) in the same span of time.

We don't know what to expect with the future of EA Star Wars, but I can say that Star Wars Battlefront II has been a great game so far. Sure it didn't have the best launch, but the devs at DICE have done so many fixes that I would be bummed if it was all cut off.

For now, the only Star Wars game fans are expecting is Star Wars: Fallen Order. Hopefully, EA can do something about this drought of Star Wars games; as of now, everyone is already demanding that Disney do something about it.

Perhaps a shared license with another game company? I'm just spit-balling here.

Star Wars: Fallen Order is set to come out sometime later this year.
