Star Wars: Robert Rodriguez Raves About Working on The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian

There is little doubt that Robert Rodriguez is responsible for some truly awesome Star Wars content on Disney+. Not surprisingly, the Machete director was overjoyed to be a part of the franchise through his work on The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

Robert Rodriguez worked on Chapter 14: The Tragedy, the sixth episode of The Mandalorian Season 2. He then went on to direct the spin-off show The Book of Boba Fett.

Rodriguez recently spoke to Total Film and GamesRadar to discuss his latest project Hypnotic. However, the Spy Kids director also opened up about how much fun it was to be a part of the Star Wars shows.

"I loved working on [The Book of Boba Fett], and Mandalorian was just the most fun I could ever have making anything," Rodriguez said.

"Because, also, it was right during COVID. Nobody was filming, so I would have just been sitting at home, and instead, I got to go play with Star Wars characters," he added with a laugh.

"It was just a blast. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni were just the best partners, they came up with all these incredible stories," Rodriguez stated.

Rodriguez admitted that working on the Star Wars shows made him relive his own childhood.

"It felt like being a kid, but the magic doesn't go away," he said. "Even though you know how it's done, you see puppets and you see the strings, it still blows your mind. It's all from the world."

"They have so many artists that were on the original Star Wars movies that it doesn't lose its look. And so you could walk on a set and you'd feel like you were right there." Rodriguez continued.

"I wouldn't trade that for anything. It was super fun, super exciting," he concluded.

Robert Rodriguez's new film Hypnotic stars Ben Affleck, Alice Braga, J. D. Pardo, Hala Finley, Dayo Okeniyi, Jeff Fahey, Jackie Earle Haley and William Fichtner. It will hit theaters on May 12, 2023.
