Robert Pattinson Thinks It's 'Insane' He Landed The Batman Role

It's been years since Robert Pattinson had starred as vampire heartthrob Edward Cullen, and everyone thinks it's completely insane that he ended up getting cast as the new Batman. As it turns out, even Pattinson himself wasn't convinced he was going to land it.

Talking to Esquire, Pattinson said, "It's kind of insane… I was so far away from ever thinking it was a realistic prospect. I literally do not understand how I've got it, at all."

We don't have any details on how Pattinson's Caped Crusader will be different from Ben Affleck's, but hopefully, we get some updates soon. As of now, Pattinson is the only actor that has been confirmed for the film, while other roles have only been rumored. Jeffrey Wright is said to be in talks to play the next Commissioner Gordon and Jonah Hill is said to be courted by WB to take on the Riddler. There's also a rumor going around that Pattinson's Tenet co-star John David Washington is being eyed to play Harvey Dent a.k.a. Two-Face.

This is also just my wish, but if the movie wants a young Penguin, I hope they cast Pattinson's Harry Potter co-star Daniel Radcliffe. He's got the right height, and I'm sure Radcliffe has the acting chops to play Oswald Cobblepot.

Going back to Pattinson though, a lot of people are having their doubts about him playing Bruce Wayne, but I guess that's always been the case with past Batmen. No one had faith in Ben Affleck when he was announced, but now everyone is praising him for being the most comic-accurate onscreen version of the character. I'm sure Pattinson will do an amazing job.

For now, The Batman is set for a release on June 25, 2021.
