Robert Pattinson Reveals Details Learning About The Batman Role

There was a whole lot of surprise when word broke out that Warner Brothers had cast Robert Pattinson as the new Dark Knight in Matt Reeve's The Batman movie. Not only were fans hoping for Ben Affleck to stay on as the film's Caped Crusader, but they were also expecting an older actor to take the DCEU star's place if he were to leave the franchise.

The news was a major surprise for Pattinson as well – when the Twilight star got the news, he had begun working on Christopher Nolan's new film, Tenet.

Speaking in an interview with Games Radar, Pattinson decided to open up about receiving news that he had gotten the Batman role, sharing an anecdote about going in to begin filming Tenet.

"The morning of the first day," Pattinson told the entertainment news outlet, recalling what it was like to learn that he had been cast as the Dark Knight, "It was kind of insane. It was a very, very intense weekend. That was a crazy way to start Chris' film. [laughs] I think I was doing the [Batman] screen test, as well, on the Saturday before I started.

It had been pretty exciting news for Pattinson, however, the actor had a lot of trouble when word about his casting had leaked to the public before Warner Brothers made the official announcement. Still, the actor took everything in stride, and now we're waiting for The Batman to resume production again.
