Robert Downey Jr. Gets Into Animal Trouble In Awesome Dolittle Trailer

What do you do if you can speak to animals? The first trailer for Robert Downey Jr.'s new film Dolittle is finally here and it teases a lot of animal trouble.

The trailer opens with a sweeping look at the Dolittle Manor with its exotic creatures. A young girl is clearly impressed with what she sees but still, she wonders, "Are you Dr. Dolittle?" she asks.

It doesn't take long before we are introduced to Dolittle's many animal companions including a sassy duck, an ostrich, a giraffe, a parrot, a gorilla, and a polar bear. But it's not all fun and games. At one point, the gorilla is terrified as their ship is attacked. Not surprisingly, Dolittle immediately soothes his friend, telling him that, "It's OK to be scared."

But can Dolittle fulfill his mission? There could be some trouble from Antonio Banderas' mysterious character. Nevertheless, with the help of his friends, Dolittle might be able to save us all.

The premise of Dolittle reads as follows:

"After losing his wife seven years earlier, the eccentric Dr. John Dolittle (Downey), famed doctor and veterinarian of Queen Victoria's England, hermits himself away behind the high walls of Dolittle Manor with only his menagerie of exotic animals for company.
"But when the young queen falls gravely ill, a reluctant Dolittle is forced to set sail on an epic adventure to a mythical island in search of a cure, regaining his wit and courage as he crosses old adversaries and discovers wondrous creatures."

The film also features the voices of John Cena, Marion Cotillard, Carmen Ejogo,
Ralph Fiennes, Selena Gomez, Tom Holland, Rami Malek, Kumail Nanjiani, Craig Robinson, Octavia Spencer, and Emma Thompson.

Dolittle hits theaters on January 17, 2020.
