If there’s one person who fans want to know the future is in Riverdale Season 7, it’s Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch). The Season 6 finale ended with a major cliffhanger after Cheryl destroyed the comet that threatened to blast the town.

So, what happened to Cheryl? Thankfully, Petsch hints at her future in Riverdale Season 7.

Cheryl’s Fate in Riverdale Season 7

Veronica (Camila Mendes) siphoned all of the group’s superpowers to give to Cheryl so that she could destroy the comet.

However, no one knew what happened to her after the gang was sent back to 1955.

So, what’s next for Cheryl? In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Petsch didn’t give anything away about her character’s future and asked fans to wait for Riverdale Season 7 instead.

She said,

“Who knows if Cheryl survived the comet blast? She was real close to that. I guess we'll find out in season 7 of Riverdale!”

She instead talked about the final episode’s production, revealing she enjoyed filming the comet-destroying scene.

She continued,

“I enjoy it. I love stunts, and I love doing work like that, so to me, to have another one under my belt was fun. You just go along with the flow on that show, and if you lean into it and you find the fun of it, then it's all gravy and fun.”

How may Cheryl Appear in Riverdale Season 7?

According to ScreenRant, it will be interesting to see how Cheryl will make an appearance in Riverdale Season 7 after the group returns to 1955. So, how will the time travel elements be at play?

No one except for Jughead (Cole Sprouse) has a memory of what happened.

With that said, nobody may remember Cheryl’s heroic deeds, even herself. So, with the show’s trademark twisty relationship with continuity and shared universes, just like what Petsch said, fans have to wait for the final season to know what will happen next.

The CW’s CEO Confirms Series’ End in Riverdale Season 7

The CW’s CEO Mark Pedowitz confirmed that Riverdale Season 7 would be the last of the series.

“I am a big believer in attempting to give series that have had long runs an appropriate sendoff,” he said, via Us Weekly. “We had a long conversation with [executive producer] Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa], who is thrilled by this news, and we will treat the show in the manner it deserves. We want to make sure it goes out the right way.”

He continued that people behind the series might have also felt that seven years was the right time to end the show. As a fan, he wanted to do what was right for it.

Sprouse also revealed that he and his fellow cast members were ready to “wrap it up with a bow.”
