Riverdale Season 7 will put the Archie Comics-inspired series to a close after five years on the air. But instead of having a bittersweet feeling, one of the lead stars, Lili Reinhart, teased it would have a “beautiful” ending.

Riverdale Season 7 will feature the series returning to the 1950s Americana, but no one remembers what happened in the previous season—except for Jughead (Cole Sprouse). As this will see Jughead and the rest of the gang solve another mystery, will their memories return in Riverdale Season 7?

Lili Reinhart Discusses Riverdale Season 7 Ending

In an interview with Extra, Reinhart teased how the last and final season would end.

"It's going to be closed out really beautifully,” she said. “I think the fans who have been along for the ride since Season 1 are going to really appreciate our ending.”

Rumors about the series’ ending have been swirling for a long time now. In fact, Reinhart herself hinted in December 2021 in an Instagram Live Q&A with fans, via Seventeen, that Riverdale Season 7 could be the show’s last.

“We’re hoping for a season seven… and then that will probably be the last one,” she stated. “You didn’t hear it from me.”

What will Riverdale Season 7 Feature?

After showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa announced the series’ ending on Instagram and the sixth season finale revealed the next season’s setting, Jughead and the rest of the group would return to the year 1955 in Riverdale Season 7.

It all happened after Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) saved the hometown of Riverdale from annihilation and everyone woke up a day after James Dead died.

Archie (K.J. Apa), Betty (Reinhart), Veronica (Camila Mendes), and others are back at high school again, happily enjoying their lives as teenagers.

But among the group, Jughead is the only one who remembers Riverdale and what really happened, though he also didn’t know how and why they traveled back in time.

It remains to be seen how long they will be staying in the 1950s era, but Aguirre-Sacasa promised the final season would address some questions fans have from the previous season, including the return to the past.

“It is not a hard, complete break with what has come before,” he told Decider in an interview in July 2022. “Jughead remembers everything that happened. And I think our characters, whether they’re conscious or not, have an emotional memory of what they’ve been through… It is still in continuity.”
