Could fans expect The Rings of Power's season 3 renewal anytime soon? Ahead of the Prime series' forthcoming return, the showrunners tease what fans should expect from its epic comeback as well as a potential season 3.

Will The Rings of Power Get a Third Season? Showrunner Hopes So

Considering that The Rings of Power season 2 was confirmed ahead of the series debut on Amazon Prime Video, it's no wonder that showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay are hoping for the same thing to happen for the third time.

The first season may have been released on the streamer in 2022, but its second season was greenlit as early as 2019, so could the same thing happen prior to the show's return?

"All we can say is, we're working on it," McKay recently teased on THR, "We're cooking. Let us cook!"

The showrunners added that Middle-Earth is "vast", urging them to think that a third season wouldn't be far-fetched to think of. "What we will say is this: season one was huge and epic. We think we got even more onscreen in season two."

Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke previously shared that The Rings of Power was slated for a five-season run: "We're building infrastructure for five seasons. We were always going to spend what we needed to spend to get it right."

The Rings of Power reportedly has a budget of nearly $1 billion to craft all five seasons.

As for what fans and audiences can expect from The Rings of Power's return, "Hopefully, the audience will be surprised," Payne adds, "They can expect it to go broader, deeper and bigger, we're going into more worlds, more monsters, more battles."

The Rings of Power season 2 will continue where fans were last left off with the ending of the first season. Now that Sauron has unveiled his true identity to Galadriel, he plans to rebuild his strength to wield his sinister will in the upcoming premiere.
