Rick Riordan Shares First Glimpse at Percy Jackson Disney+ Series Script

There is little doubt that Rick Riordan rocked the Percy Jackson fandom when he announced that his beloved book series is finally getting a well-deserved live-action adaptation on Disney+. Now the author of Percy Jackson and the Olympians has shared the first look at the script he is working on for the highly anticipated show.

Riordan took to his official Twitter account to post the image. Check it out below.

"Hope you guys have a great weekend! I know I will. I have some work to do," Riordan wrote before adding the hashtag #PercyJacksonDisneyPlus.

There's not much to see here but it does confirm that Riordan will be directly involved with the upcoming series. This is a welcome idea considering that he's the man who knows the characters best. With that in mind, we can't wait to get more updates on the new show.

Riordan only shared a few details about the series so far. "We can't say much more at this stage but we are very excited about the idea of a live-action series of the highest quality, following the storyline of the original Percy Jackson five-book series, starting with The Lightning Thief in Season 1," Riordon wrote on Twitter before adding that he will oversee the new series with his wife. "Rest assured that Becky and I will be involved in person in every aspect of the show."

Interestingly, even the cast of the Percy Jackson films is very supportive of the upcoming series. Logan Lerman, who has portrayed the titular character in two movies, wrote that he hopes "it gets the adaptation the books deserve." Needless to say, it does confirm that the best way to adapt the novels would have been in a live-action series.

The Percy Jackson series has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
