Rick Grimes Actor Andrew Lincoln Will Exit The Walking Dead During The Next Season

It looks like the ninth season of The Walking Dead is going to be the end of the line for Andrew Lincoln, the actor who plays the series' lead character, Rick Grimes.

According to a report by Comicbook.com, multiple independent sources say that Lincoln will be leaving the popular American post-apocalyptic horror television series during its ninth season on AMC. The publication says that AMC is expected to officially announce Lincoln's decision to exit from the series before his final episodes air on the network.

Though we're not quite entirely sure how AMC is going to write him out of the series, the publication says that fans can expect Lincoln to be out of the show before season nine comes to an end.

Speaking with the publication, Lincoln says that he's ready to see Rick Grime's arc to come to end.

"There's part of me that really wants to complete something," said Lincoln. "How long that takes? I don't know but certainly, I really think the fans and my character deserves an end point as some time in the future."

Though their fate in the series is still up in the air, other cast members of The Walking Dead are also approaching the final years of their contracts. This includes Danai Gurira, the Black Panther actress who has played Michonne on the show since its third season. Meanwhile, many expect Lauren Cohan to exit The Walking Dead soon. The actress' current contract for season nine of the show only has the actress returning for six episodes.

The Walking Dead will air its ninth season this fall.
