The beginning of April saw a huge influx of Rick and Morty, with the first episode of season 3 being released as well as an official announcement for the season premiere. Adult Swim has just released a new video, and it’s a swell parody of Pokemon using armies of disposable Mr. Meeseeks.
Just like the show, you can see that the video is chockfull of references to classic video games other than Pokemon. There are nods to Mortal Kombat, Mega Man, and most surprisingly, cult anime classic Akira. I was not expecting a Meeseeks to turn into the giant absorbing baby. It’s crazy!
It’s no mystery that creator Justin Roiland is a big fan of games, what with the several nods to them in Rick and Morty, and him producing a VR video game called Accounting; nice to know that we have a bona fide geek behind one of the best sci-fi shows out today.
Rick and Morty season 3 comes out this summer.
