Ever since Rian Johnson revealed that Benoit Blanc (played by Daniel Craig) is set to be the recurring character in his Knives Out franchise, or in this case, seeing Craig reprise his role in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, fans have been looking forward for a spinoff or extension of some sort, some of which includes having Benoit Blanc meet the muppets! As fun as that would sound though, Johnson admits it wouldn’t work. However, a new suggestion rises: A Knives Out Holiday Special.

In response to Johnson shutting down the idea of Benoit Blanc meeting the Muppets, author Kelly Knox replies her suggestion: “What about … a holiday special,” To that, the Knives Out creator hypes up the idea by quoting her tweet with an all caps: “OH SH*T.” Check out their conversation below:

Seeing as a Knives Out 3 was confirmed ahead of the Glass Onion release, would a Knives Out Holiday Special work? Well, while there is no official confirmation yet on whether or not Johnson will push through with the Holiday Special, it is safe to say that his reaction would have to be taken with a grain of salt for now. Although it is all the more gratifying to see that the Knives Out creator himself is interested.

Previously, Netflix won the bidding war of buying the rights to the Knives Out franchise in 2020 with $450 million, in which they had also secured at least two Knives Out sequels, one of them being Glass Onion. Johnson also already confirmed that he was already crafting the third installment after New Year’s Eve in 2022. It is likely that it will revolve around Benoit Blanc trying to solve another whodunnit murder mystery, as the creator also reiterated it was one of the reasons he didn’t want people to think of his films as a “franchise.”
