It might not be real, but it looks like Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson dreamt that The Lighthouse director Robert Eggers directed his own Star Wars movie.
The Awards season is up, and Johnson's latest film Knives Out just got nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the 92nd Academy Awards. With the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences set to declare the official winners of the Oscars this February, we aren't entirely surprised to see Johnson dreaming about other Oscar-nominated directors like Robert Eggers, the director The Lighthouse, a movie starring Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe which is currently up for Best Cinematography in the Oscars.
Taking to Twitter, Johnson decided to talk about what recently happened in his sleep, saying that he had a dream where Eggers was showing him a cut of his new Star Wars movie.
"I just woke up from a dream where Robert Eggers was showing me a cut of his new Star Wars movie and guys it was wiiiiiiiiild," the director wrote on his tweet.
"Release the Eggers cut," added the filmmaker, "Lotta boobs. If space cow boobs in TLJ gave you confusing angry feelings hoo boy you just WAIT"
It does sound wild. We can't imagine a family-friendly company like Disney greenlighting such a risqué entry in everyone's favorite galaxy far, far away. We could go for some new elements in Star Wars though. Now that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's finally culminated the Skywalker saga, Lucasfilm is free to explore new themes in its movies. We wonder what Johnson might explore in his new Star Wars trilogy.
