Return to the World of The Shining in New Featurette for Doctor Sleep

The year 2019 has seen some kind of Renaissance with Stephen King's material with films like Pet Sematary and IT: Chapter Two. In November, we'll see the release of the sequel to The Shining, Doctor Sleep, and WB has released a new featurette giving us an inside look.

If anything, director Mike Flanagan has a lot to live up to, seeing that Stanley Kubrick's The Shining remains to be a horror classic. The movie seems to be leaning heavily on references to Kubrick's film, but I have to admit that the scenes with Rose the Hat and her group kind of make the film look corny.

Then again, no matter how many liberties IT: Chapter Two took, the ending still ended up pretty cheesy, but I didn't really see it as a problem. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how Doctor Sleep comes out when it hits theaters.

Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the "shine." Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.

Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra's innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before—at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.

Catch Doctor Sleep when it comes out Nov. 8.
