Return of the Jedi Actor Reprised His Role for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Cameo

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will likely go down as one of the more controversial installments in this legendary franchise, choosing to pander to "hardcore" fans and not continue anything set up from The Last Jedi. As expected from J.J. Abrams, there are a lot of moments that are meant to bring up your nostalgia and this film did succeed in some of that, especially in the later scenes.

While we didn't get too many references to Return of the Jedi, the original third Star Wars movie, Abrams did give us a quick shot of the Ewoks in the end, which was a nice surprise for fans. Though most of us expected those Ewoks to just be CGI, it turns out that they went out of their way to cast original Return of the Jedi actor Warwick Davis, who reprised his role as Wicket.

Confirmed by ScreenRant, it's good to know that LucasFilm would go out of their way to get Davis to reprise his role, even if it's for a second of screen time. If they can get Wedge to make a one-second cameo, I guess they can get anyone to do it. Disney and LucasFilm also cast his son Harrison Davis, who plays Wicket's son in the quick scene.

If you're down for some decent fanservice, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will hit that feeling, even if it could have been so much better. Hopefully, the new Star Wars movies move away from so much nostalgia so that filmmakers won't be handicapped by all these restrictions, which ultimately hurt The Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is now showing in theaters.
