Red Dead Redemption 2 Delayed To 2018

A lot of fans were gearing up for the release of Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2 this coming fall, but the studio has apparently decided to delay the game. For now, expect RDR 2 to be released sometime around the spring of 2018.

Rockstar announces:

Red Dead Redemption 2 is now set to launch Spring 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans.

We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer. In the meantime, please enjoy this selection of new screenshots from the world of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Some fans have expressed that they expected Rockstar to delay the game from the get-go, as Grand Theft Auto V was also met with a delay. Though some fans may groan at the prospect of waiting more, it's definitely much better to have a full and complete game coming out late, than to receive a rushed game that hit shelves early.

DICE learned this lesson when they released Star Wars Battlefront, and now they're trying their best to make sure that Battlefront II won't contain the same mistakes.

Red Dead Redemption 2 comes out spring next year.
