Fun Video Discusses Philosophy Behind HBO’s Westworld

If you haven’t checked out the Wisecrack channel on Youtube, you should hurry on and watch some of their videos. They provide some very smart (and humorous) analysis on modern pop-culture like Rick and Morty, Deadpool, Netflix’s Daredevil, and Star Wars.

Their latest video has them discussing the philosophy behind HBO’s Westworld, and boy did HBO put a lot of effort into the series. Aside from the marvelous production value and top-notch actors — Anthony Hopkins ain’t cheap — the series actually delves into a lot of philosophy and symbolism, and it’s fun to see how smart the show actually is. I never would have thought that the hosts’ nakedness was a metaphor for Adam and Eve, or that Ford was actually a stand-in for God. Man, is this show smart.

Westworld was probably one of the best things to come out of HBO last year, and the show has oddly rejuvenated the cowboy frachise — just in time for the release of Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2.

Westworld season 2 has no official release date, but it will probably arrive sometime in 2018.
