It’s fair to say that Re:Zero is one of the most popular isekai anime now, even if there are long gaps between its seasons. Though fans would be happy to know that Re:Zero Season 3 is likely going to be announced soon, at least if rumors are to be believed.
Ahead of this weekend’s AnimeJapan 2023 event, rumors have begun spreading online that Re:Zero’s third season will be announced there.
Specifically, these rumors come from some anime leakers online, as well as fan theories based on the event’s stage schedule.
Re:Zero’s Popularity and Season 3
While it wasn’t the first anime to popularize the genre (that distinction goes to Sword Art Online), Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World is easily one of the most popular isekai anime out there.
Aside from having high sales numbers, the Re:Zero anime is among the most talked-about shows online whenever there’s a new season. Plus, its characters have become widely known among most anime fans.
The anime’s first season was released back in 2016, and it took nearly four years until the second season.
Thankfully, Season 2 also had 25 episodes which were released in a split-cour schedule, meaning fans had a lot to watch.
Season 2’s final episode aired on March 24, 2021, so it is now two years since the most recent season ended. Despite its popularity, a third season has yet to be confirmed.
Now though, it seems that Season 3 is finally on its way. Though this shouldn’t come as a surprise given how successful the anime is.

Re:Zero Season 3 Possible Announcement at AnimeJapan 2023
On Twitter, many fans are convinced that Season 3 will be revealed at AnimeJapan 2023. This was supported by several reports from leakers.
In a now-deleted tweet, @LoremIpsumVerb shared that a season three announcement will indeed be made at this weekend’s event.
More announcements of upcoming spinoff projects in the franchise are also expected to happen at the event.
Even though these reports have yet to be confirmed, it’s likely that we will see a Season 3 reveal soon.
After all, AnimeJapan 2023’s first day will feature a Re:Zero stage event which is the perfect place for a third-season reveal.
This upcoming stage event is happening at AnimeJapan 2023 Day 1 on March 25, 2023.
If a reveal does happen, we should get a new visual or even a trailer via the show’s official channels soon.
