After a two-year hiatus, Raising Dion is back on Netflix for more superhero adventures.

Netflix released Raising Dion Season 2 on February 1, 2022, and if you've already watched all eight episodes of the latest season, you're probably asking: Will there be a Raising Dion Season 3? When can you expect the new season of Raising Dion on Netflix? Here's everything we know so far about the potential Raising Dion Season 3.

Originally premiering on October 4, 2019, the American sci-fi drama is based on the 2015 comic book and a short film of the same title by Dennis Liu.

The aforementioned Netflix series follows the story of a single mom named Nicole (Alisha Wainwright) who raises her eight-year-old super-powered son Dion (Ja'Siah Young) after the death of her husband, Mark.

Dion starts to reveal his magical, superhero powers, and Nicole must now keep her son's gifts secret with the help of Mark's best friend Pat (Jason Ritter).

Raising Dion Season 3 Confirmation Status: Did Netflix Renew the Show?

On April 26, Netflix cancelled Raising Dion after two seasons, so there will not be a third season.

As of November 2023, there are no updates that suggest that the titular series will be getting renewed on the streamer.

Raising Dion star Sammi Haney announced the cancellation on Instagram, writing, "Sad to say that Raising Dion is CANCELED. Thank you for all of the amazing support we got from all of our wonderful fans! Season 2 was a success, equal to Season 1, even if just looking at how many people watched all of it and wanted a season 3!"

The young cast members were rallying to get the show renewed. In a video shared on Instagram, Ja'Siah Young, Sammi Haney, Gavin Munn, and Griffin Robert Faulkner explained that "the fastest and safest way" to secure another season is by streaming Season 2 within the first 30 days after hitting Netflix.

"If enough people do that, they'll quickly renew it for a Season 3," claimed Young.

Sammi Haney, who plays Esperanza in the show, also shared a video on Twitter that features kids explaining how Raising Dion can get a Season 3, which you can check out below:

Raising Dion was on top of the Netflix view charts for almost a month. IMDb data also shows how Season 1 was in the top 17 while Season 2 was in the top 70.

After nearly occupying 32 million accounts viewing space, 60% of which were out of the USA, the show developed a dedicated fanbase. Many reviews expressed how much this show is loved for the fantasy land it sends its viewers into.

Why Was Raising Dion Canceled After Two Seasons?

This wouldn't be the first time that Netflix decided to cancel a show after two seasons (some were even canceled after just the first).

However, according to Rotten Tomatoes, the streaming service's forecast back in 2022 was initially predicted to plummet and lose 200,000 subscribers, which already spells bad news for the series' continuation.

It is quite unfortunate that the streaming service itself didn't address any other reason apart from money troubles.

Unfortunately, apart from Netflix canceling the show two months after the premiere of Raising Dion Season 2, there had been no confirmation of renewing the series onto the streamer.

However, you are free to watch all episodes of Raising Dion Season 1 and Season 2 on Netflix.

Unlike Raising Dion Season 1, Season 2 wrapped with less of a cliffhanger. The post-credit scene teases the eventual confrontation between Dion and Pat in the future, so Season 3 will likely build up to that conflict.

Dion will also be able to master controlling his powers alongside Pat. Some fans are also rooting for the return of Michael B. Jordan's Mark Warren, Nicole's deceased husband, and scientist who was given superpowers by the aurora event in Iceland.

But Nicole and Tevin are already a likable couple. She seems to be healing as he brings some lightness to her stressful world. How will that change if Mark returns?

Tevin will be able to continue being Dion's superhero trainer. Brayden's story has a good potential to develop further. He seems to have escaped the darkness, but so has Pat.

How will he use his mind manipulation powers in the future? Will he team up with Dion in Season 3?

Kat's latest position at Biona in the science department is a huge hint that we haven't seen the last of the research facility. We might see the facility train-powered people, so we might see new superheroes and villains in Season 3.

While Dion and Nicole were able to seal the flower's effects at the sinkhole, the Crooked Man's energy will inevitably live on to possess another person. Finally, Raising Dion Season 3 could follow Dion's transition into pre-teen/teenage life.

The post-credits scene suggests that the series is setting up for a time travel story in Season 3 as we see Pat now dressed in garb reminiscent of Marvel's Doctor Doom - approaching Atlanta at the head of his army.

He's confronted by a flying man who zooms out of the sky and introduces himself as Mind Mover (the superhero alias chosen by Dion).

This is the adult Dion (played by Chris June), and it looks like there will be a time jump in Season 3 if the show is renewed.

At the Season 2 finale, the Triangle of Justice - that's Dion Warren (Ja'Siah Young) and his best friends Jonathan King (Gavin Munn) and Esperanza (Sammi Haney) - was still going strong, so we can certainly expect the trio to return if Netflix renews the show for Season 3.

Nicole (Alisha Wainwright), who was infected by the strange flowers in the sinkhole in Season 2, made it in the end, so expect her to return in the potential third season.

The villainous Crooked Pat (Jason Ritter) might also return for Season 3, alongside David Marsh (Josh Ventura).

Dion's powered coach Tevin Wakefield (Rome Flynn), who trained Nicole's son at the research facility Biona, will likely return alongside other potential returning cast members, including Suzanne Wu (Ali Ahn), Janelle Carr (Aubriana Davis), and Aunty Kat (Jazmyn Simon).

But again, all of these remain as mere speculation, considering that Netflix has yet to confirm if they're planning on renewing Raising Dion for a third season.
